How to Buy?
Introduction

This document describes the processes required to purchase a product from the CDStore, how to save your receipt and purchase certificate and how to re-install the product if you accidentally delete it or experience a major system failure.

McAfee UnInstaller is used throughout this document for illustration purposes.

Purchase

You start the purchase process by following the procedure in the "How to Buy" section. Once you have completed the appropriate procedure for your browser the actual purchase process begins. The first phase is to validate the integrity of the product. The progress of this process is shown below. The time taken to validate the product depends on the size of the product.

After the product contents have been validated, the End User License Agreement (EULA) is displayed:

Please read the EULA and make sure you agree with the terms.

If you don’t agree, or do not wish to proceed for any reason, please press "Decline" and the process will terminate. You will not be charged in this case.

If you agree click "Accept" to continue.

The next step is to select a location to unpack the product installation files into:

The normal location is C:\ZIPWORK and the documentation assumes that you will use this directory. However, if you wish to change the directory you may, but please make a note of the location you choose!

If this is the first time you have purchased a product from the CDStore you will see the following screen:

We recommend that you use C:\ZIPWORK\ but you may choose your own location. In either case you should click the "Yes" button to create the directory.

The files which are unpacked into this directory are the product installation files in exactly the same format as you would receive if you purchased the product on a CD-ROM.

If you are purchasing the product then leave the "Install/Reinstall this product from a valid license" check box clear. If you are re-installing the product then make sure you have the electronic purchase certificate and check the "Install/Reinstall this product from a valid license" check box.

If you want to review the EULA again then press the "Back" button.

If you want to cancel press the "Cancel" button.

Press the "Next" button to continue.

The product purchase screen is now displayed :

Please note that the price shown in the Product Purchase screen is EXCLUDING VAT!

Enter your purchase details. All fields are mandatory, except for Middle and Address2. If you do not complete one of the mandatory fields you will be told which one(s) and asked to complete them.

Should you wish to cancel the purchase, click the "Cancel" button.

The "Back" button takes you back to the screen where you select the location to unpack into.

After you have filled in all your details, click the "Next" button.

Proxy Server configuration

Some Internet connections use a security device called a "Proxy Server". If your connection is like this you will get the following message:

If you get this message you should press "Retry" and complete the following information:

We recommend that you increase the Timeout to 300.

You will need to contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP) or network administrator to get the other details.

The purchase details will now be sent for payment validation and clearance, and the Product Purchase status screen is displayed :

Note : This process takes at least one or two minutes while the purchase details are validated and the credit card details are validated and processed.

If the purchase details are incorrect, or the payment is not approved, the following screen is displayed :

If it is not possible to complete the transaction you are NOT charged. If you wish to attempt the purchase again you need to repeat the procedure from the beginning.

If the purchase completes

If the purchase details are approved, the meter moves ahead, as in the following screen :

After the purchase is confirmed, you will be issued a receipt, and an electronic digital certificate which is your proof of purchase. By default, they are stored in C:\WINDOWS\ZipLock\Pnn directory, where nn is a purchase number. The following screen is displayed:

You can view the receipt by clicking the "View" button :

Printing your receipt and certificate

You can also print the receipt and the digital certificate by clicking the "Print" button. We recommend that you do this!

Backing up your receipt and certificate

The "Backup" button displays the Backup screen, to allow you to store a copy of your receipt and your digital certificate on a floppy disk.

Please make sure you make a backup!

We strongly recommend that you take a backup of the receipt and digital certificate. These files are required in case you need to unpack or re-install the product for a second time. By default, you are allowed three unpacks from the product on the CD-Store.

We recommend that you backup to a floppy disk as illustrated above. Save the floppy disk in a safe place and don’t use it for anything else.

After you have backed up your receipt and the digital certificate, click on the "Finish" button.

The product will now be unpacked in the C:\ZIPWORK\ directory. If you had specified some other save directory the product will be unpacked in that directory.

After the unpack is successfully completed, the product’s setup program will be launched for installing the product on your system.

After the product is successfully unpacked and installed on your system, all the product files are stored in the C:\ZIPWORK\ directory. You may wish to delete these files after the product is installed on your system, or you may wish to keep them. If you delete them and then need to re-install the product you will have to follow the reinstallation procedure below.

ReInstall

After the product is successfully unpacked and installed on your system, all the product files are stored in the C:\ZIPWORK\ directory. You may wish to delete these files after the product is installed on your system, or you may wish to keep them.

If the product files are not deleted, you may install, or reinstall, from these files as many times as you wish. However, if you delete these files, you will need to perform the re-installation process from the CDStore to unpack the product before installing again.

To do this, proceed as you did for the initial purchase. However, when you are asked where you want to unpack the product please make sure to check the Install/Reinstall this product from a valid license box.

YOU MUST HAVE THE ELECTRONIC CERTIFICATE DISCUSSED EARLIER! THIS IS WHY IT IS STRONGLY RECOMMENDED THAT YOU BACKUP THE CERTIFICATE TO A FLOPPY DISK!

Checking this check box will result in a re-install rather than a new purchase when you press the Next button.

The Certificate Path screen is now displayed.

By default, the screen can detect the location of the digital certificate if the product was successfully installed and you have not moved or deleted the certificate. However, in case of a disk crash, or if the receipt and the digital certificate files are deleted from your system, or if the location of the digital certificate has moved from the default path, you would need to provide the certificate from your backup.

Click the "Browse" button and point to the location of the digital certificate. After the digital certificate has been located, click on the "Next" button.

You are NOT charged for a re-installation.

Note that you are only allowed three unpacks by default. If you exceed the number of default installs the following screen is displayed :

After the product and purchase details are verified from the digital certificate, the Receipt screen is displayed :

The rest of the process is identical to the Purchase activity.
